Frequently Asked Questions
How did they win the NBA title 2019?
DeMar DeRozan was traded to Toronto Raptors by Jakob Poltl (protected 2019 first-round draft pick) and a Toronto Raptors player in return for Kawhi Leonard.
On February 7, 2019, Jonas Valanciunas C.J. was traded by the Raptors to the Memphis Grizzlies. Miles, as well as a 2024 2nd-round draft pick to Memphis Grizzlies, were traded by the Raptors for Marc Gasol--another All-Star and former Defender Player of Year--and signed Jeremy Lin shortly following.
The Toronto Raptors had an exciting offseason. They made two major trades that shocked the NBA. DeMar DeRozan, Jakob Poltl and a 2019 first round draft pick (that was not protected) were first traded by the Raptors to the San Antonio Spurs. In exchange, they got Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green (Spurs). Then they traded Jonas Valanciunas to the Spurs and Delon WrightC.J. Miles, along with a 2024 second-round selection to the Memphis Grizzlies, were traded to Marc Gasol--another All-Star and former Defender of the Year. These moves placed the Raptors into a formidable position to compete in the NBA title race this season. Let's take a closer look at each trade.
Kawhi Leonard trade was a risky move by the Raptors. Leonard is a top-5 league player when healthy and coming off a MVP-caliber season. On the other hand, he only played 9 games last season due to injury, and there are questions about his long-term health. But the Raptors decided that it was worth the risk, and they signed the deal. Leonard is healthy so far and has been playing at an All Star level. He averages 26 points, 8 rebound, 3 assists, and 49% field goal shooting. His three-point percentage is 38%. If he keeps his health good, he could be a key to the Raptors winning the NBA title.
Marc Gasol made a trade for Marc Gasol, but it was a very short-term one. Gasol is in his thirties and is clearly out of his prime. But, he's still a good player that brings valuable experience and talent to the young Raptors. He is averaging fifteen points, eight rebounds, and four assists per game. He shoots 45% from three-point range, while also shooting 45% from behind the arc. C.J. Wright and Delon Wright were young assets the Raptors traded. They acquired Gasol from Miles, but believe that his experience will prove invaluable in the playoffs.
The Raptors were off to a good start with a winning 6-0 record. Their 16th win was on November 23rd. The Raptors were careful with Leonard and did not allow him to play more than 20 games during the season in order to avoid aggravating his injury. They still managed to secure the 2nd seed East, just behind Milwaukee Bucks.
The Raptors went on to have a successful run in the playoffs, dispatching the Orlando Magic, Philadelphia 76ers and Milwaukee Bucks to reach the NBA Finals for the first time in franchise history. Leonard was named Finals MVP and the Raptors won their first title against the Golden State Warriors in game 6.
The Toronto Raptors enjoyed a successful offseason. This has been a huge success. The Raptors have two All-Stars and are ready to compete for the title in years to come. They have shown they are capable and willing to make bold moves as well as take risks when it comes to assembling a championship-level team. It will be fascinating to see if they can maintain this level of success in the future.
How many years has the Raptors been around?
Toronto Raptors, an NBA team located in Toronto (Ontario), is home to the Toronto Raptors. The Raptors joined NBA in 1995 as an expansion club, alongside the Vancouver Grizzlies. The Raptors are the only Canadian-based NBA basketball team.
The Raptors, based in Toronto, play their home games at Scotiabank Arena. The city's NHL team also uses the arena, the Maple Leafs. The Raptors have made 13 appearances in the NBA playoffs since their inception. Most recently, they lost 6 games against the Philadelphia 76ers during the first round in 2021.
The Raptors made their first playoff appearance in 1999-2000. They were defeated by the New York Knicks, division rivals, in the first round.
The fans were few and far between, and the team wasn't too exciting either. There was not much to be excited about and nothing to cheer for. After years and years of failure, the team decided it was time to change. They went to great lengths to appeal to the masses.
They hired an advertising agency in 2001 to create a strategy for marketing that would help them achieve national fame. They created a slogan that screamed "Hear me roar!"
They used the slogan because the team was in financial trouble at the time and wanted to make sure that everyone knew that they were selling out. They just needed a catchy name and a logo. This is where the agency's creative genius shines. They combined the popular phrase "hear our roar" with "never say die". This became the Toronto Raptors' official motto.
How was the Toronto Raptors' inaugural year of existence?
The Toronto Raptors' first season in the NBA was a difficult one. Isiah Thomas became GM and hired Brendan Malone as head coach of the new Raptors franchise in 1995, and the team soon acquired several talented players in the draft and through trades. They won the Chicago Bulls' game once that season, but their overall record was 21-61.
Toronto drafted Marcus Camby (Rookie of The Year) in 1996. Camby joined the Toronto starting line-up along with Alvin Williams at guard. Damon Stoudamire was traded in 1997. Toronto continued to make roster changes as it sought to establish a foundation for future success.
Despite all the changes, Toronto struggles through its first few NBA seasons. Toronto finally reached the playoffs in 2000, after much rebuilding and transition. But it was defeated by the New York Knicks.
How many all-stars have Toronto Raptors had?
Vince Carter (Vince Carter), Antonio Davis, DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry are all Raptors All-Stars. Kawhi Leonard, Pascal Siakam, Fred VanVleet, Fred VanVleet, DeMar DeRozan and Kawhi Leonard are also Raptors All Stars. Apart from Davis and VanVleet they all have made it to other NBA teams like Leonard.
When did the Raptors win its first playoff series in their history?
Toronto defeated New York 3-2 in their first playoff series. They advanced to the Eastern Conference semifinals under Lenny Wilkens, for the first time in franchise history.

How To
Can I bring my photo camera to a Raptors match?
Follow the rules and plan. You will be fine. You can bring your camera to any NBA game. It is not illegal. However, you need to be aware about the potential dangers.
Before you start taking pictures of the game, consider whether it is allowed. It doesn't matter if you have a DSLR or a smartphone, as long you are close to the court, you may be able capture great shots.
These tips will help you get better shots of basketball if you have a serious interest.
The second thing you must think about is which camera you are going to be using. A professional-grade camera is essential if you plan to take action shots or capture memorable moments with friends.
Also, you need to consider how much time it will take to set up your shot. Consider investing in a tripod, remote release, and other equipment if you are shooting hoops with children.
You need to find a place to store your gear. You can't just set up shop in the arena and expect that someone will give you a card. You'll need to bring extra batteries and cables or have somewhere to store your things while you watch the game.
To summarize, planning ahead is key to taking great photos of sporting events. Doing this will ensure you capture stunning images you can enjoy over and over again.
